Sunniva Shaw is a versatile cellist working across most genres. With a background from the Norwegian Academy of Music’s Individual Study Programme, she has developed a unique and expressive style that blends cello, effects and her voice into a personal, genre-crossing sound. her playing FOCUSES ON rhythms, TEXTURES AND blending the acoustic depth with an experimental edge.

In addition to performing live and in the studio, Sunniva has recently focused on arranging for strings, recording each part herself and composing music for various mediums such as short films and adverts.

As a performer and collaborator, she is equally comfortable playing fully notated arrangements AS free improvisation. She also integrates electronics and live processing into her live setup, creating a unique sound and expanding the possibilities of the cello and her voice.

Sunniva is currently active both with her own project—where she composes, sings, plays and produces—and as a collaborator with a wide range of artists.
